What you spend with a supplier stops being a guess
Ask what you spend with a supplier and the honest answer is that nobody is sure, because the same supplier is entered three ways across the ERP, the receiving system, and the supplier portals. We resolve the supplier records so one supplier is one supplier, build the spend on a clean data layer once in code, and run a standing audit for duplicate suppliers, split orders, and price variance.
A messy supplier master makes every spend figure a stitch job
The same supplier is entered under a handful of names and two or three IDs, spread across the ERP, the receiving system, a portal, and a spreadsheet someone reconciles from memory. So a figure for what you spend with that supplier means stitching those sources together by hand, and the number you land on is still an estimate.
Category spend is worse, because it rolls up those already-shaky supplier records. The answer exists in the data. Getting to a trustworthy version of it is a week of somebody's time.
We resolve the supplier records, then the spend answers on demand
We reach the sources and resolve the supplier records first, so one legal supplier is one record no matter how many ways it was entered, and the part and category data is normalized under it. The layer is cleaned once, in code, and each new month appends instead of being rebuilt by hand.
An agent sits on top and builds supplier and category spend as you ask for it, in plain language, so the cut you used to wait on takes a sentence. That is what replaces the BI seat. A person still reads the number and makes the call.
A standing audit works duplicate suppliers and price variance as a queue
Because the layer is clean, an audit runs against it continuously. It flags the same supplier onboarded twice under different names, an order split to sit under an approval threshold, and the same part bought at different prices across sites or over time.
The team stops hunting through a report for these and starts working them as a queue.
